A+ Insights

A+ is a collaboration between urban innovation company Right Angle (Rooftop Cinema, Paramount Recreation Club, Golden Age Cinema & Bar) and the Asahi Ventures & Innovation teams. Part online magazine, part business partner, A+ supports and entertains owners, operators and folks in the food and drinks world through editorial features, business services and exclusive member events.

Approached by Jacky Winter via Choreus, I was tasked with visualising the flaws and biases of international restaurant/bar awards, focusing on the Michelin Man as a symbol of the controlling, money-driven and culturally flattening forces in the industry. Four themes were explored – surveillance, control, bias and PR manipulation. These illustrations were used to visually translate the article's critique of the global food and drink awards landscape.
