The Brief

Illustrative work created for Brisbane band Bugs between 2020 – 2022. 

I had the pleasure of designing Bugs' 3rd album Cooties. The visual concept for the album was inspired by all the weird and wonderful 90s cartoons like Trap Door and Goosebumps. I knew I wanted to include some form of sludge and quirky characters to be featured on the front and utilise dreamy and gooey colours to match back to the design. T-shirts were also created to coincide with the release and tour of the album which featured alternative designs of the main two cooties characters. The album was also picked up on the ARIA charts and listed as 04 in the TOP 10 VINYL ALBUMS.

Prior to the album release, I was creating all assets for each single release as tour posters, social media graphics and merchandise. The designs feature an array of custom typography and illustrations that relate back to the content of the singles. From reminiscing about nostalgic feelings to being stuck between your own decisions, each artwork references the song's lyrics. Two merchandise designed were created that featured a "Goosebumps" inspired design and another that references their last single before the album announcement.
